Highland Music Site Spreads Its Wings

Highland based music site www.scotloads.co.uk are looking for local venues and fans to get involved in promoting Scottish talent over the internet. Scotloads offers a unique way for musicians to upload their music and sell it worldwide and has helped to showcase local acts such as Vivien Scotsen, Croft No.5, Dàimh, Claire Campbell, Brian Ó hEadhra, Fiona Mackenzie, Robbie Dunsmore, Raar, The Rites and The Galipaygos.

A new exciting community section of the Scotloads’ site has just been launched and promises to bring together Scottish musicians, venues and fans. Venues can now register for free and use their accounts to promote themselves in the same way as musicians. They can keep music fans posted through a comprehensive gig database that is continually updated and maintained by musicians and venues.

Co-founder and local musician Chris Rasdale commented,

“Venues and fans not only play a huge role in supporting Scottish music but are an integral part of the scene. We want to allow the different strands to come together in the Scotloads community where fans, musicians and venues can now interact through forums and arrange gigs, leave feedback or just see what’s going on!”

The recent developments have crossed into other areas of the Arts as well. Painter Samuel Heath from Fortrose has painted a total of twenty nine paintings for the site as part of the new community launch. The majority of the paintings are representations of the different musical genres with five being depictions of the main cities in Scotland.

Music promoter Dochan Macmillan who runs the Free Candy Sessions in Glasgow commented,

“It makes sense for everyone to work together in this way to bring good independent music to the fore. The power of the internet allows us to do this. I can listen to musicians I’ve never heard before, buy a few tracks and offer them a gig. That’s how simple it can be!”
