Blues: Blues emerged in the African-American community of the United States at the beginning of the last century. The style was exported to the UK and adopted in the 1960's by the likes of the Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds in what has come to be known as the British Blues Boom. Blues has had a huge influence on modern music and remains very popular. Several blues festivals take place annually in Scotland including the Dundee Blues Festival and the Edinburgh Blues (and Jazz) Festival.
