About The Rites

The Rites are a 5 piece Rock 'n' Roll band from The Black Isle deep within the Highlands of Scotland.

Since forming in October 2002 they have gathered together a wide variety of credits such as radio airplay in both the UK and USA, finalist places in the UK Songwriting Contest for 3 years in a row and various events such as The Tartan Heart Festival, Loopallu - Hayseed Dixie's Little Fest in the West, goNORTH and Belfest to name but a few.

A very noteable achievement was coming 3rd in the Emergenza Scottish Final (an event that is an Endorsed talent search by Sony/Columbia) at Carling Academy, Glasgow where they performed to over 1500 people.

The Rites are know for the live performances and a recent show was voted one of the Top 10 gigs in the UK by the Musicians Union.
The ability to put on a show like no other have resulted in established acts such as Hayseed Dixie, The Bluetones, Dogs Die In Hot Cars and The Grim Northern Social request The Rites to support them at various venues around Scotland.

They have built a solid fan base in their local area with the readers of the Inverness City Advertiser (which has a circulation of 60,000) voting them Best Band and their Ram It EP Best EP at this year's ICA Awards.

The band continue to spread their music and recently completed a UK tour that saw them play London, Liverpool, Manchester, Derby, Aberdeen and Inverness. They are currently finishing production of their new single "The Sequel" with Terry Small a well respected Highland based producer and have a no. of upcoming showcase performances.
