About Shooglenifty

SHOOGLENIFTY ANGUS R. GRANT (fiddle); IAIN MacLEOD (mandolin); GARRY FINLAYSON (banjo, banjax); MALCOLM CROSBIE (guitar); CONRAD IVITSKY (bass); JAMES MacKINTOSH (drums, percussion). All are highly talented musicians, with individual members of the band having worked in such groups as Swamptrash. Miro and Capercaillie. Shooglenifty's music is not easy to pigeon-hole but is acoustic and has been described as 'wild ceilidh music'. The bands' music is certainly adventurous and to attend a Shooglenifty gig is an experience, as the bands' audience take to the floor for wild Scottish reels! This is different and no mistake! SHOOGLENIFTY has built up a huge following in Scotland and further afield - at the time of the release of this album, the band was touring in Spain. This is a fully professional band and touring is their No.1 aim. The album was recorded at REL Studios, Edinburgh, and produced by Jim Sutherland. The very eye-catching sleeve is from an idea by Shooglenifty plus the excellent design skills of our designer. John Haxby. This album should have far wider appeal than folk or traditional circles and the release of "Venus in Tweeds" was backed up by a huge promotional mail-out to radio stations throughout the UK and abroad, plus all sections of the media.
