Roya was recently voted the youngest ever nominee for Guest Artist of The Year 2005 and came runner up against all the professional accordionists in the country. Her accordion playing has already taken her all over Scotland and recently to France.

Roya MacLean from Muir-of-Ord in Ross-shire is 16 years old and has been playing accordion for 8 years. She has music in the blood, as her grandfather Fraser MacLean leads his own well-known dance band. She has won many Junior Championship titles over the last few years and was a nominee for the 2005 Guest Artist of the Year award.

There is no doubt that Roya has an immense musical aptitude for the accordion and piano and there have not been many young female accordionists breaking into the scene in recent years.  Roya shows maturity beyond her young years in her playing, which can only go from strength to strength as she gains experience.
