The Poozies have been evolving as a band for just over a decade. From their early beginnings with pop/rock singer Sally Barker, through their contemporary folk phase with Kate Rusby, their music has reflected their interest in many different genres of music. Their current incarnation takes them back closer to their roots in traditional Celtic music and includes founder members Karen Tweed (piano accordion & vocals); Patsy Seddon (electro-harp, clarsach, fiddle & vocals); Mary MacMaster (electro-harp, metal-strung clarsach & vocals); alongside new girl Eilidh Shaw (fiddle & vocals).
The range of experience collectively realised by The Poozies is massive! Between them they have played with Kathryn Tickell, Swap, The Two Duos Quartet, the May Day project, Sileas, Clan Alba, Caledon, Harem Scarem, Keep It Up, John Rae’s Celtic Feet, Shine, La Boum, as well as many other live projects and guest sessions on the recordings of such important artists as Roy Bailey, Lal and Norma Waterson, Dick Gaughan, June Tabor and Eliza Carthy.
Irrepressibly imaginative treatment of traditional and contemporary tunes, glorious harmonies and uplifting performances have ensured The Poozies’ place at the forefront of the folk/roots music scene in Britain today.
Changed Days, Same Roots, The Poozies fifth album (first on Greentrax), was recorded at Castle Sound Studios by Stuart Hamilton and consists of a mix of tunes and songs, traditional and contemporary, arranged in The Poozies unique style. The album was mixed by Stuart Hamilton, assisted by Mary and Eilidh. |
