Ishbel was brought up in the village of Point, Isle Of Lewis, famous for its Gaelic singing tradition. She sang occasionally in the school choir, but it took considerable pressure before she saw a future in singing. She has since become one of the most respected Gaelic singers in the world.  She has made countless radio and TV appearances and travelled throughout Europe, Israel, and North America.
