Caithness veterans of Rock The Howlin' Gaels first began to appear on the music scene back in 1985 and have been raising the rafters all over the UK ever since.
From their humble beginnings “The Gaels” have come to be know as one of Scotland’’s most popular blues/rock bands with influences ranging from Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughen to Walter Trout and AC-DC.
Their unique, energetic, raunchy performances has packed out some of Britain’s most prominent venues, as well as appearances in the United States. They have appeared alongside a host of top name bands like “Dr Feelgood”, “The Commitments”, “The Sensational Alex Harvey Band” and Zimbabway’s very own “ Bhundi Boys ”.
The launch of the Gaels’ first album “Rock the Millennium” was swept up by National Radio Stations and lead to their first TV appearance.
The Howlin' Gaels Frontman is the kilted Highlander Donnie “Howlin’Gael” Williamson, a powerful vocalist and harmonica player with passion in his voice.
Donnie is complemented superbly by blues guitarist Alex MacIntosh, the multi talented David Tashnizi on bass and Ewan “Thunder n' Lightning” Barker on Drums.
Almost two decades on and the Gaels are still, as ever, continuing to draw crowds and kickin' up a storm whenever they appear on stage.
Their latest album “lonely Road” offers up ten exciting original rock tracks which has already created a lot of excitement in the music scene.
Session drummer Frazer ”Hand of Thor” Sparling stands in for Ewan on this album due to Ewan having other commitments during the recording sessions, other guest artists apearing on “Lonely Road” are rhythm n' blues band After Hours' brass sectionThe Stormy Monday Horns and Duncan Mcglaughlin on keyboards.
