George James Clavey was born in Edinburgh, with his tiwn sister, on 12 October 1928. Music figured early in George's life as a choir boy. Later in his life, his work as a civil engineer took him to Skye where his interest in Gaelic language and music was sparked. Winner of the MOD Gold Medal for fluent speakers in 1960, George sadly passed away in June 2003.
