About Ceolbeg

CEOLBEG are:- PETER BOOND - Flute, cittern, whistles and backing vocals; COLIN MATHESON - Keyboards, synthesiser and backing vocals; DAVY STEELE - Guitar, bouzouki and lead vocals; WENDY STEWART - Clarsach, concertina and backing vocals; GARY WEST - Great Highland war pipe, whistles, Kabassa and backing vocals. Plus:- IAN McQUEEN - Percussion; ROY ASHBY - Additional percussion; DICK GAUGHAN - Midi-Production. The album was recorded at Hart Street Studios, Edinburgh, by Roy Ashby and produced by Dick Gaughan. CEOLBEG has been around the music scene for several years but the present line-up has only been together for just over a year. The combination of such instruments as clarsach, great Highland war pipe, flute, whistles, keyboards, stringed instruments and percussion, all played with great skill, blend to give a unique and exciting sound. Add the considerable singing and songwriting talents of Davy Steele and the result is a group of exceptional talent. The album is a nice balance of songs and instrumentals, allowing individual talent to shine through. For exciting instrumentals try the "Mazurka" or Coupit Yowe" sets; or change the tempo with Wendy Stewart's beautiful clarsach on the moody "Glenlivet", which leads beautifully into Davy Steele's tender interpretation of the Burn's song "A' The Airts"; or the spine-chilling "See The People Run"; the arrangement on "Seeds To The Wind" makes this a track suitable for any radio programme. With a total playing time of 54 minutes-plus.
