BlackRock Ceilidh was born out of the fertile ground that was the legendary Balconie Inn, in 2005.
It was here that Claire Steve and Euan practiced for the Evanton Music Festival and annual Glencoe Tour at the Thursday and Sunday sessions. The band was hatched out of nothing more than a good fire, Gunness, Bud & Morgans and the instruments that lay around the place.
The last two years have seen the band graduate from an accoustic set fuelled by nerves to a recognisable & diverse range of Traditional , Celtic Folk and Rock with a growing amount of original material.
BlackRock Ceilidh has matured through many and varied gigs and the band caters for anything from ceilidhs and corporate do's to weddings, sessions and festivals.
All these are infused with large measures of ( no not alcohol!! ) enthusiasm & the love of the craic, which shows we're told.
2007 saw us move to an edgier, original and more bespoke sound which prompted the band to beef up the bass and rhythm with Franki on Cajon and bodrain & Davie Munro's innovative bass.
It is to Davie and his expertise the band turned to record the cd Open Road which will be quickly followed by another in 2008 using the prodigious catalogue of hitherto unrecorded songs from the Campbell / Eaglesham writing and composing collective.
Thanks must also go to Davie for his Website design and almost limitless supply of tea and biscuits at his Camden Street Studios.
The Band is set to be busy in 2008 with gigs all over the Highlands and some Islands booked already. We'll post the craic as it happens.... but where?
Claire, Steve, Euan, Frankie & Davie can be found at www.blackrockceilidh.com
Cheers.
