Born in Glasgow in 1943, Bert went on to become a highly influencial figure on the British folk scene. It is said that his guitar technique inspired the likes of Neil Young and Jimmy Paige.
He formed the band Pentangle, with John Renbourn, Jacqui McShee, Terry Cox and Danny Thompson, and they had great success and recorded six albums.
In 2001 Bert was awarded a BBC Radio 2 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Radio 2 Folk Awards in London. |
