A singer with a warm voice and great interpretive flair, a songwriter whose compositions have been taken up by many of the country's leading singers and a musician of outstanding ability on several instruments.

Born in Glasgow in 1939, son of singers, one from the Isle of Barra, and the other a police inspector! Archie, along with other members of his family: Ray, Cindy, Joyce, Audrey and Cilla, formed the backbone of the Scottish traditional folk song scene in the 1960s. Archie has long been the presenter on BBC Radio Scotland's "Travelling Folk" programme.
