More on this Album:

Welcome to the third incarnation of this album. It was released first in 1984, on my own label. Then I joined Battlefield Band, and for the next thirteen years, all my recordings were done with the band at Temple Records studio. In the early 90’s, it was released, on cassette only, by Temple, as vinyl was on the way out. Volume of sales did not justify a CD release at that time. Now in 2001, of course, the economics look completely different, so I’m pleased to be able to offer this album on CD now, complete with some photos from the period when it was first being sold! The songs were a good representation of what I was doing on solo gigs at that time. One or two of them are still in my set list! I learned the songs from listening to other singers. Particular thanks go to John Weatherby, Bill Hill and Mick Fitzgerald for letting me have words I couldn’t track down in books. I was lucky at the time to have some good friends who were willing to give their services as guest musicians. Amazingly enough, we’re all still friends! All of them still play music full- or part-time, notably Davy, who was last heard going down on the Titanic. Tom and Kieran are regular visitors, and I’m a recipient of Colin’s excellent breakfasts every time I visit Whitby. John, I’ll be knocking on your door soon, too. I’ve done my best with modern technology to make these slightly geriatric recordings sound good – I hope you enjoy listening.
